Chatter - A translated story from the Korean Beat reveals that a Chosun Ilbo reporter was “shocked” to find unpunished prostitution in Busan, South Korea:

A reporter gathered these prostitution cards from the area around the famous Haeundae beach and took this photo with a caption noting that — you may want to sit down for this — the businesses have gone unpunished despite advertising themselves so openly.

Not to point out the obvious but I see these prostitution cards every day scattered about the sidewalk. I’ve seen them in Daegu, Busan and Seoul. They’re often lined up in neat little lines on the steps of shady, back-alley motels as well. Quite frankly, I’m more shocked that it took the Chosun this long to address rampant, illegal prostitution.

I understand that prostitution is illegal where you are but always it goes unpunished, even right here! The people meant to capture and punish the ladies are the customers of the trade anyway.

I believe the will not be any punishment forthcoming but probably occasional raids on the prostitutes who will then get immediately released.

Welcome to the world brother! ;)

I’m not shocked by the rampant prostitution. To be more clear: I’m shocked that the Chosun Ilbo (a major newspaper in South Korea) finally decided to address it. In the article, the writer is apparently ”surprised” about finding out the glaring obvious.
